Responsibilities:
Main duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, implementation, monitoring, review, and evaluation of Livestock activities (including Provision of Feed/Fodder, Restocking of small ruminants (Goats), Animal health service, and capacity building for Community Animal Health Workers (CAHWs))
- Develop a detailed project work plan guiding the project activities implementation and regularly update to monitor project progress towards effective project management.
- Initiate and carry out timely monitoring of beneficiary’s selection, verification, provision of livestock supports, and CAHWs activities and supports for the project.
- Ensure that all CAHWs and animal health technicians provide services of high quality to the livestock owners in the project area.
- Identify the necessary drugs and kits for animal health service provision.
- In collaboration with the Borno state ministry of Agriculture, facilitate conduction of training for CAHWs and ensure that it is delivered accordingly. Supervise and document training activities designed to enhance the capacity of the community animal health workers.
- Identify relevant animal feed and supply to the needy livestock herders as the project document.
- Prepare and review quarter and project lifetime activity plans and budget for the project under implementation.
- Closely work with supervisor and M&E team during the development of monitoring tools/measuring indicators, milestones development, and monitoring/ reporting of output and outcome in his/her area assigned.
- Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, quarterly activity plans and reports of the project, and submit to his/her supervisor on time.
- Identify the direct target beneficiaries of the project in collaboration with the local community representatives and stakeholders from the government.
- Mainstream gender, protection, safeguarding and inclusion within the intervention, with advice from the protection and inclusion focal person.
- Represent the office in matters related to the project in the meetings for knowledge sharing when delegated.
- Work closely with all stakeholders and ensure the community participation in the project activities.
- Work closely in a team with other project officers and contribute to the maximum of his /her knowledge to the project team in his/her areas of profession as deemed necessary.
- Perform other functions as requested by the immediate supervisor.

- Ensure that beneficiaries are effectively targeted according to established vulnerability criteria.
- Develop partners’ MoUs and contracts & oversee a training program for program partners.
- Integrate community approaches, gender sensitivity and capacity building into all activities as appropriate.
- Ensure program implementation is on time, target and budget, using effective M&E systems to reach desired impacts.
- Create and maintain systems ensuring effective and transparent use of financial resources for timely and informative reporting in line with donor and ZOAs’ policies and procedures.
Finance & Compliance Management
- Ensure compliance with donor and ZOAs regulations related to emergency programming.
Influence & Representation
- Identify, build and manage collaborative partnerships with donors, local governments and other stakeholders.
Communicate effectively to ensure overall project targets and donor obligations are met.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Livestock Production, or a closely related field.
